45 to 0 in a high school football game that had all the expectations of a great grid iron battle turned into a one sided hard earned victory for the 2010
Laredo United Longhorns.  With the win over their rivals the Laredo Alexander Bulldogs . the United Longhorns edged and engraved in marvel a game
that will resound across football mystic across Laredo for the longest time.

The revenge factor played dearly against Laredo Alexander. The resolve the 2010 Longhorns had for 12 months since they were eliminated from the
playoffs in 2009 by the Bulldogs was captured in a total dominance of the Bulldogs in every aspect of a football game.

The number one defense took care of the number one offense as United massed 529 yards of total offense and only allowed the high powered explosive
offense of Laredo Alexander only 225 total yards.

This was a classic football game played by Laredo United in all aspects.  As we had mentioned in yesterday column on the game you work a defensive
scheme to
stop the talented Billy Williams III running you will have to content with dealing with Tony Salas picking your defense apart.

Either by choice or by game condition the Alexander Bulldogs defense came up with a 4-3 defense instead of the nickel defense that was successful for
the Bulldogs in 2009 against Laredo United.  With the 4-3 defense holding Billy Williams to less than one hundred yards rushing caused a opening in
receivers being open in cross patterns all night long for the United Longhorns receivers.

Four TD passes by Laredo United Longhorn Sr. Tony Salas and one by back up QB Joey Sepeda were the punches that turned the lights out on the
Bulldogs chances of earning a back to back victory over their rivals. Instead they were left with one of the most one sided charges against a Bulldog team
in a long time.

Field position in the first half gave the Longhorns the power to control the game no matter what the Bulldogs tried or how hard the Bulldog defense tried to
stop the tremendous offensive scheme developed for this game by Laredo United against the Bulldogs.

You cannot ask a defense no matter how good they are to stay on the field as long as the Bulldogs defense did in this game. While the Bulldogs offense
were doing 3 and outs the first series of downs the Bulldog defense were taking it in the chin over and over having to defend a short field the Longhorns
were operating in the first half.

The United Longhorns defense came up with the most dominating effort all season besides the obvious of not allowing a single point by the Bulldogs.
The Longhorn defense held the most talented Bulldog QB Brian Swain to only 9 passes completed for a unexpected 66 total passing yards by Swain.
That by itself sent shock waves to the Harlingen Cardinals advance scouts sitting in the home side stands.

Speaking with the coaches at half time they were asking Lrd Sports Wire News Network sports analyst Nuno Sciaraffa if Brian Swain was playing hurt.
They had heard so much and seen video of his playing but could not relate what they knew to what had just happened in the first half.

Sports Analyst Nuno Sciaraffa told the coaches, "he one hundred percent healthy and what we just saw is for the ages what Laredo United just did in the
first half against the best offensive team in our area."

The blazing speed the Longhorn defense operated this game is something the advance scouts will take with them. It does not matter if the defensive
backs are averaging 5’10" across the Longhorn defenses. It is the speed that massacred the chance the Laredo Alexander Bulldogs had of any repeat
defeat of Laredo United or of sharing a district title with the Longhorns if they were to pull out the game.

The Longhorn defense with the speed of light pushing those football orange shoes stopping cold Laredo Alexander is what will be remembered for ages.
The constant scoring by Laredo United in this game by Tony Salas TD passes and by Billy Williams TD run has to be seen as taking care of business by
The Longhorn Offense no matter who lines up against them.  They proved it last night they have no fear factor in scoring against anyone and last night
game what we mentioned yesterday came to pass.

You stop Billy Williams then you will have to live with constant pain that Tony Salas picked you apart one pass at a time and the four TD passes to sting a
defense that was tops of the district they resided in. By Williams having one rushing TD and rushed for 98 yards total in many ways did not stop Williams
it
only prolonged the chances by having the Bulldog defense stay put peeking at Williams and letting receivers take the extra step in routs and at the same
time so many receivers in the patterns by Laredo United forced the Bulldogs linebackers to stay home in areas that allowed open lanes for Tony Salas to
pick them apart.

The 2010 Alexander Bulldogs defensive work had no answers as obviously the score tells the tale.  They held Williams enough but they could not stop the
big plays on the passing by Tony Salas and in the fourth quarter after Salas had torn Alexander apart with his 4 TD passes Joey Zepeda added the
exclamation point by adding one more TD pass by Laredo United.

When Sports Analyst Nuno Sciaraffa wrote several weeks ago in an article for Lrd SPorts Wire News Network  that the valley observers peeking at what
is coming out of Laredo in the first round of UIL High School football to play against were stunned to see that Sciaraffa had mentioned that Laredo
United is not a passing team only. The emergence of Jr. running back Billy Williams gives the Longhorn the edge sorely lacking the last several years by
a
Laredo team facing the UIL Big Team playoff bracket.

What we saw last night by the Laredo United Longhorns was a complete team effort that has the aroma of finally a Laredo team can match up well
against
teams like the Harlingen Cardinals Division One in UIL’s playoff format something that everyone looking in at the playoffs expects to happen in the
second round.

The Horns of United faithful spoke early on that this was a different Laredo United Longhorn team.   Even after the first game defeat in the season against
4A Smithson & Valley in Laredo those Horn faithful were standing with their team. They knew more about Billy Williams emerging as a great Jr Running
back.  They already knew we had witnessed the greatness of Tony Salas. What was not known was that the 2010 Laredo United Longhorns had resolve
and everything they did for twelve months was work at getting back into the playoffs and to do so they knew they had to do it going through the Laredo
Alexander Bulldogs in the last district game of the season.

The bumps they faced in mid August with training camp injuries sidelining several key players and taking a defeat in the first game against Smithson
Valley with Tony Salas going down in that game and out as it turned out to be two games did not stop the Longhorns drive to get back into the playoffs.
They had other players step in and what they did with all that talent was go undefeated after the Smithson Valley game. All the way to the final rival game
at the end of season and winning out right the 2010 UIL District 29 5A Football Championship.

In yesterday story we mentioned that Sports Analyst Nuno Sciaraffa in Laredo, TX said that Coach Sanchez in a move in August went on his own to the
local NBC Television affiliate and walked in unannounced and got on camera and said "the United Longhorns will win District this year."

Coach Sanchez did not rest for 12 months after he was eliminated from the 2009 playoffs. He made his team no matter what size or talent the players
were in his program believe in that one line he told so boldly on camera that they will win district in 2010.  What everyone else for whatever reason or
reasons did not noticed the 2010 Longhorns had resolve and desire and most of all had the talent to pull off one of the best accomplishments in Laredo
football.

Going from down and out and not making the playoffs in 2009 to winning District in 2010 in a fashion that those that played against the Longhorns in 2010
are going to remember forever.  Staying the course as difficult as it was for the 2010 Longhorns soundly calls in proclaiming they are the football team
everyone quietly privately wish to be.
