LAREDO ATHLETES AT THEIR BEST
Texas Lrd Sports Wire News Network High School Cross Country
September 17,2011

Laredo Martin Tiger athlete Hector Alvadez talks to The Sports
Wire about his 3rd place finish at the UTSA Cross Country
Invitational.

When asked about how the preparations for the race was he
goes on to say " for starters, the course was hard, the start
especially,so i did some long strides before the race started too
get myself out of the mess'"

Describing the course Alvarez tells The Sports Wire, "the first
100 yards of the course,it was really muddy."

Seeking to find out what Hector handled the rest of the course
he tells The Sports Wire , "i tried too pace the race by staying in
the top 3.

Finding out about the race he goes on to say  " and at the 1 1/2
marker I took over the lead for about a mile till i was caught by
behind."

Your Laredo Martin TIGER was leading the top Cross Country
runners for a mile how about that TIGER and Sports Wire fans.

Hector goes on to tell The Sports Wire that "at the start of the 2
1/2 mile,i wasn't able too catch anyone from behind, but I had
no one out kick me at the end as usual."

One of the elements that makes Hector a top Cross Country
NCAA scouts study his style of running is his finish. He has that
Tiger heart that does not let anyone get by him towards the end
of the race.
As Alvarez explains, "it's hard for someone too get me from
behind."

Asking Hector to takes us to the final part of his great effort and
race he goes on to say "  at the last kick.a stream of joy raced
threw me when i saw my time clocked at a 16:22."

The thing that was more important to Hector is seen in what he
tells The Sports Wire  "we were able too score a 2nd place
overall as a team.  I'm  happy by my teams performance, but we
still got allot of work too be done this season."

Indeed, The Tigers early on in 2011 are leading as a team all
local high school Cross Country teams in the meets they have
raced as in the recent TAMIU Invitational.

The season is long the district meet is in Laredo this year and
we will have a tremendous meet with so many teams racing well
so early in the season.

Over all Hector Alvarez came in third at the UTSA Invitational
Cross Meet and his team The Martin Tigers as a team came in
second. The roar of the Tiger is loud can anyone catch the
Tigers in 2011 in UIL District 29 5A well , we will find out soon
enough.
