"The Longhorns ALL FENCED UP" By Baseball Sports Analyst for Lrd Sports Wire News Network Nuno Sciaraffa C/S The Laredo United Longhorns were all fenced in and had to address their coach on one main thing Saturday morning. They were done como CHICHARAS flying in the air, they were no where near the semi's of the 2011 Border Olympics High School baseball tournament and it did not sit well with their coach JJ Gomez they lost focus and blinked for one moment the prior game on Friday. Clearly they were a favorite with so much talent and with a clear top 15 ROUND MLB Selection in their starting pitching rotation. They allowed the prior game a bases loaded clearing triple in the last inning that caused them the chance to face the top teams in a ranked tournament with top teams from across the state of Texas. They were here from the Texas panhandle , from north Texas , from central Texas, and from deep south Texas all here because they wanted to be part of one of the best fielded high school tournaments in Texas. The Longhorns all they could do was take the defeat as a very important lesson of not letting your guard down one inning in this state or your toast , chicharas flying in the air. Up to the defeat the United Longhorns had proven they were heading to the semi finals with speed and batting that is making a few scouts take notice not only Homero Ortiz but several baseball players on the United team are generating looks by NCAA and pro scouts. What we saw on Saturday was what everyone expected from Laredo United. Power pitching from their #2 pitcher and batting by their explosive lineup. Homer Ortiz their highly recruited ML player did not disappoint . The lefty Ortiz hit a massive home run to right field that had everyone gasping on how easy he made it look with his mighty bat.(the Great Ones Do That) Which brought the issue home again. Those that know baseball were wondering how one game the day before prevented this team from reaching the semi finals that were happening that afternoon to finish the 2011 Whataburger Baseball High School Championship. Their coach took it in stride and after the game the Longhorns were not released even though the tournament was over for them. Coach Gomez kept the team at Krueger field and the next thing you saw that the Horns had changed into shorts and sneakers . When we asked around what was going on several peeps in the stands said they were going to be reminded great teams need to keep their focus each inning. They were going to run and run they did. A message from their coach who has been there done that all the way to state in UIL high school baseball but at the collegian level as well as he is an instructor at the University of Texas Baseball summer programs. If anyone knows what it takes to get it done it's Coach Gomez. The Longhorns had a good tournament but did not make it to the top on the heavy ranked teams in the 2011 Whataburger Border Olympics High School Baseball tournament. Something that was in everyone's Saturday morning and in the minds of everyone knowing it was the final game of the 2011 Whataburger High School Tournament for them but the only ones that count are the players. They are heading to their next tournament and how the Longhorns do in that tournament will form a response to the requirements to be a baseball player at Laredo United High School . At Laredo United you have to bring your A game 24/7 anything less is not acceptable and for now the 2011 Longhorns hit a wall like the ball that hit the wall as a triple against them and allowed three runs to score and force the Longhorns to check themselves and dust off themselves and showed because they did not bring their A game they became TOAST or CHICHARAS flying as we would say in the hood. The Longhorns only have one thing left to do this week and that is to ponder what happened and somewhere deep inside that story baseball program they play in they must find that A game and never let it go until the final out is concluded in each game. Other wise as in this story about the 2011 United Longhorns in the 2011 Whataburger High School Baseball Tournament we have nothing to write about if they do not bring their A game 24/7. Nuno Sciaraffa C/S Baseball Sports Analyst. Sports Analyst Notes: The 2011 Longhorns should not think about their 6th straight UIL 29 5 A District Championships until they do bring their A game 24/7. Other wise they are just a team in the middle of the pack if they do not. Homero Ortiz was impressive in his 14 strike outs as a pitcher in his only pitched game in this tournament. Homero Ortiz hit a massive home run on Saturday to right field . NASA called that the Ortiz homerun hit the space station and if he Ortiz wanted the ball back he will have to hit another one to dislodge the one stuck in the solar panels of the Space Station. H Saito the Longhorn # 2 pitcher was impressive in Saturdays morning game. He had command of his pitches and if he keeps this up will pose a challenge to the rest of the district having to two great pitchers from United. When Saito is not pitching he is playing 3rd base and he can handle the hot box in UIL 29 5 A baseball. Pato continues to impress everyone with his athletic ability as a short stop with that rocket rocket rocket rocket arm he has. GO PATO GO.. CHEERIOS to the Longhorn Diamond Dolls . They are such a delight to see at a baseball game with their cheering for their Longhorns. They even came out with a new chant.. if a Longhorn runner reaches 3rd base as a runner. They start chanting .. say Pato reaches third base they all start in a loud chant " Pato Pato we miss you come home. Pato Pato we miss you come home" aka score by reaching home....... The Longhorn peeps loved that new chant.. way to go Longhorn Diamond Dolls. |
