"The Alexander Bulldogs. So much to write about but the nut shell is they won when they were suppose to and
they won big and did not just get by in games the first week of District Play for the Bulldogs. Mario Maldonado
continues to prove everyone wrong by playing ball at a level above everyone and yes even Homero Ortiz from
Laredo United. Maldonado just has been consistent productive and playing in the infield with out errors.
Look at the pitching order the Bulldogs have. Maldonado , Garza one two punch and they still have their # 3 in
the slot ready to pitch on any notice. Their batting order through the 6th hole is productive the early district
games. The errors which are seen in most teams in the infield are not there so far for the Bulldogs they are
just playing this first week of District championship level baseball. Yes, State level championships baseball.
This team is all that and more."
Amazing right! The above quote was written in March by sports analyst Nuno Sciaraffa talking about the
Bulldogs, and he got the valley rattled up with the comment "STATE" in his article. Clearly if anyone had the
Bulldogs back and figured out was Sciaraffa. As we said, sometimes peeps only see what they want to see. As
for the valley well there are no teams left in UIL high school baseball playoffs for them to see on 956 Sports
Internet is there?
We kept barking all season long at Sciaraffa for sticking to his claim Laredo Alexander "Was all that". When
CC Winn showed up to play them at Kruger the first round Sciaraffa was in the stands doing his stuff with two
scouts next to him he invited to Laredo see the talent in Laredo baseball.
Sciaraffa still stood by his pistols after CC Winn showed up in Laredo with their junior lefty . Sciaraffa said "look
its one game, and yes Maldonado pitched, and took the L, but that lefty from CC Winn he is not from Earth."
Everyone started to take notice who CC Winn was after that game, but few wrote off the Bulldogs not Sciaraffa
and not Mark Guerra the valley sports analyst. Guerra of all people started to wonder how far Sciaraffa
prediction of Alexander being "ALL THAT" would hold. Guerra said this week "Sciaraffa is an Italian Mexican
Laredo Brujo, he had called it right all along, and many are now realizing Alexander "is all that" as Sciaraffa
had said early on the season in March. Why he got so much crap from them is still being talked about in the
valley this week. Still they wonder what was Alexander thinking about slamming the only sports analyst picking
them to get this far into the playoffs."
Looking deeper Sciaraffa would break down the Bulldogs early playoff rounds like a surgeon even down to
getting the right score for each game in the first two rounds. He did not have a prediction on the third round
but called it right he said Alexander will win in three games the series against Mc High. Everyone in the valley
slammed the prediction, since many felt the Mc High Bulldogs were the top of the class in the valley next to
Sharlyand, and for Sciaraffa to pick Alexander was baffling to the "valleyites."
When we would ask Sciaraffa to provide us a break down on why he would not shut up about the Bulldogs. To
bad no one saw how much he knows about the players abilities, the coaches abilities, and most of all he
knows their Cositas on what they do not get right as well.
Mark Guerra sat down on Wednesday of last week, and went at it Mano a Mano on Everything Bulldog with
Sciaraffa at a restaurant in Zapata (that is what Sciaraffa calls half way Zapata between Laredo and McAllen).
When Sciaraffa went player by player mark Guerra laters tells us, 'Sciaraffa is insane he knows what spike
they put on first, and what arm they put on their baseball shirts that was insane so when he got to the batting
order aka the alleged batting order Alexander will have against McHigh I was stunned.
First that he would have it down pat as I sat in the bleachers watching the games Sciaraffa line up card was
what Mario Garcia brought to the home plate umpire. When Sciaraffa tells me that these are hit makers on the
Bulldog team he had several in the line up we had no clue they were going to hit the McHigh pitchers, but they
did, and as I was keeping score I would write down what Nuno had said about each batter Alexander had, and
boy he had it right. Sciaraffa knows his baseball, and when I asked him how he got to this he gave his Ms Cleo
the mystic in a Jamaican accent he said "easy mannnn those Bulldogs are know since they played in little
league seen them to many times and some have the same habits and same batting strokes as always no
brainier for this mannnn." I was laughing my head off at his horrible Jamaican accent it sounded so hood kind. "
"I remember he called a scout in March, and said "look for a kid name Alfonso Rivas to be something big the
next seveal years in high school." I was with Nuno when he scouted an Alexander game where Rivas pitched
early in the season, and the scouts he had invited that day were taking copies of Nunos notes on Rivas and
other Bulldogs Nuno had scouting information. Those scouts left with a ton of information on the possibilities
on where those players will be at the end of the season, and the next several years for the under class men. I
was watching someone that had worked his tail off to have it done right, and correct on the scouting. Nuno is a
Brujo.
In that game the Bulldog second basemen made an error, and the scouts look at Nuno as he was writing a
billion words on his lap top on the player. The scouts asked him about the second basemen Nuno turns and
says NCAA DII or D 1 if he gets it right the rest of the season." They went on to read his notes and it brings
froth how he knows the Bulldogs inside out. Sciaraffa wrote. "second basemen pivot on the play was late, and
he did not lower his lower body correctly, he was off balance as the ball reached him , and cuffed him, and his
hands were out of position. A rare for this second base men but then again your hands would be off when you
take your eye of the ball for a second as the second basemen did in this play. It's like driving on the highway
you take your eyes of the road for a moment, and where you look your hands move and the car moves in that
direction. The same here the second basemen took his eye off for a second and looked to his left and his
body shifted enough he got cuffed.
That is how he sees the game play by play he sees things no one ever sees a player do on the field, and when
they are pitching, and batting he is just very observant, and in Spanish it's called FIJON . That is why he would
tell everyone that would listen in March that Alexander would take a storm into the playoffs, and reach the
regionals finals.
Now that the Bulldogs are in the Regional Semis you start to put the pieces Sciaraffa had on the Bulldogs. He
called it right on the pitching how, and what pitchers Mario Garcia will put on the mound the first three series in
the playoffs. Few knew about Rivas outside the Bulldogs and some Laredo people. The batting order
Sciaraffa broke down each batter who was capable of hitting Mc High and who was not. We were not
disappointed.
Since the infamous CHANT at Home Plate after the Bulldogs won district against Laredo United in the last
game of district. Mark Guerra has followed the Bulldogs each game played in the playoffs for the Sports Wire.
All along Mark has been on the cell with Nuno each game before during and after and it amazes Mark how
Nuno would tell him before Mark would tell him how the inning went. BRUJO that is all Mark would say.
Not only would the info be right he would have Mc High stuff pat as well. Which lead Mark to think Nuno is a
BRUJO . Nuno knew things about Mc High only very few people in the valley knew about the team. Nuno tells
Mark that if Mc High wins the first game Mc High will not win the series. Mark did not buy it but when Alexander
using Rivas for five innings came into winning the game.
We had asked Nuno which Chanting Bulldogs did Nuno think will make a mark for himself. Nuno said the
normal ones Maldonado , Garza, etc but Campero has gotten better at being a first basemen the last 8 games.
That is going to be needed since there will be a lot of plays he will be involved taking for the Bulldogs.
Sciaraffa goes on to say that 'I remember bumping into Campero's mom several years ago at a gas station and
she asked me what I thought about her son. I said that he has ability and he has the hands of a first basemen
that he will be good if he keeps playing year round." Sciaraffa went on to say "The kid at that age in Del Mar
Little League showed he was a man among kids at times which meant he needed more innings to get better."
That is when I realized Sciaraffa follows baseball in Laredo like no other . I went on to ask him player by player
and he had a story about each one in the Bulldog team something I found intriguing since no one in the Valley
has that kind of baseball knowledge about the players coming up. Then again Laredo has 250,000 citizens
and the valley has 1.2 million but when I asked Sciaraffa about the Mc High Players I was stunned at how much
he knew about each player and most of the bench players he had a story or a comment. This is a Brujo for
sure I am thinking.
I asked him at that meeting last week and I called him last night and asked him what he thought about the
match up of Churchill and the Bulldogs .. Last week and last night on the tele conference he did not blink both
times and said "esta cabron" . I asked him again last night because he did not answer last Wednesday . I
asked him again for who will it be tough. He did not answer he just shock his head but this time as we ended
the tele conference an hour later after finishing the rest of the Sports Wire News he paused and said "I still like
Alexander in the Regional Final and if things work out it could be an All UIL District 29 5A final."
Never looked at it that way that two teams from the same district could be fighting for the Regional title and he
feels both the Alexander Bulldogs and the Eagle Pass CC Winn teams have a chance of playing for the
regional title. I need to ask him for more details.
I had to ask him about the Chant at home plate after all I am a sports analyst and was not going to let him off
the hook and asked him what he thought about the whole chanting thing the Bulldogs did at home plate after
they won district.
Nuno looked at the screen as if staring me down and said, "there is a time and a place for everything and right
now it's not the right time to even talk about it but we will address the issue after the season is over with those
in charge. Even though I been approached by district people and board members , I told them the same thing I
am telling you now. This is not the time to address what happened until after the season and even then it will
be handled by Bulldog people. For now, it's about the Bulldogs winning this weekend and moving to the
Regional finals and if both teams are from UIL District 29 5A then the work of so many will come to pass that
baseball in UIL District 29 5A is the best in Texas.
One last thing he said in the Tele Conference was, "Mark dude let it go".
So, it's set the Bulldogs of Alexander will face the Churchill the defending regional final qualifiers, and they
want a second chance against Carroll . By what Sciaraffa is telling us I think Churchill is going to have a hard
time repeating and if that happens who ever the Bulldogs face from now on will have a fight because I know
everything about the Bulldogs like no other because Sciaraffa scouting sheets has everything on them and I
agree with what he has written I like Alexanders chances of getting into the regional finals vs CC WINN.
There I Mark Guerra a valley dude is saying it I agree with Sciaraffa I like Alexander just like he has all along.
Sports Analyst Elsa Garcia & Mark Guerra talk about the Alexander Bulldogs May 23, 2011

Mark Guerra For Texas Family Time Magazine Sports Wire / Lrd Sports Wire News Network May 26,2011

Mario Maldonado Now (11-2), a senior right-hander, had eight strikeouts with no walks. He kept Churchill off
balance all night long with mixing off-speed pitches with inside fastballs radar gun showing at times 89 88
miles per hour. Only one hit no WALKS on the game for Churchill, and it was in the first inning that Churchill
Zane Gurwitz got the hit other than that Maldondo had a gem of a game, and came close to having a perfect
game. Maldonado retires 19 batter after the hit in the first inning. A pitching gem Alexander 4 Churchill 0.
NCAA & High school baseball sports analyst Nuno Sciaraffa had written all week that Churchill has not seen
the Alexander right-hander, and will have a hard time dealing with his pin point pitching. Sciaraffa had gone
on to write that Alexander pitching was better than Churchill, and that will win the series for Alexander.
Remarkably Sciaraffa on the Sports Wire had the game 4-0 Alexander in his game prediction. One down and
two games to win one for Alexander.
It was the Bulldogs fifth inning that started the runs for Alexander. Up to that point they had been held in
check by Churchill's Colby Beal who now is (3-5) and a bit of surprise starter for Churchill. Alexander were
held in check by Beal until the 5th where the Bulldogs had six hits in the sixth inning and it was a surprise to
see Alexander playing little ball. The lower half of the line up came up with hits to start it off. Danny Ramos
started the rush to score with a singe and Kenny Trevinio the 9th batter in the line up with a bunt single. .
Both Ramos and Trevino scored on a double by EJ Garcia to left field. Garcia goes on to score in the inning.
Off all things little ball came into play for Alexander getting the scoring done, and that was all that Maldonado
needed for the pitching gem. The Bunt was big as it gave the Bulldogs two runners on base. Coach Marshall
for Churchill argued the close call at first for the longest time. The Alexander Bulldogs win big but they won
with little ball to get it started and then their power hitting came through. A GEM a great victory for the
BULLDOGs.

"The Skinny Why Corpus Christi Carroll Wants A Two out Three Series For UIL's Region IV Baseball
Championship"
By Nuno Sciaraffa for Texas Family Life & Sports Wire Magazine / Lrd Sports Wire News Network
Carroll's Coach Lee Yeager and we quote "we prefer a two out three series for our team"
Alexander Coach Mario Garcia and we quote "we prefer a one game series for our team"
There you have it they are playing baseball mental games before the UIL's Regional Baseball Championship.
Coach Yeager for Carroll was quoted during the interview he had after the game against Eagle Pass CC Winn in
the post game show on 956 Sports. He was clear he wanted a three game series and he said 'it benifits us' all
because he has two outstanding pitchers and their third pitcher is just as good.
Carrol has O'Shea Dumes, widely regarded as the Tigers' No. 2 hurler, while Courtney Hawkins is their # one
pitcher it's Dumes ERA that prompt Coach Yeager to use Dumes against CC Winn to clinch their second back to
back UIL Region IV championship game.
Dumes has a slightly better slider than Yeagers change up and his ERA is better that the highly recruited
Hawkins. So it only benefits Carrol to have a 2 out 3 series.
Dumes is 9-1 for the 2011 high school season and any where in Texas he would be the ace but Carroll has
Hawkings and that is one dangerous one two punch that you do not want to be in for a title and a chance to go to
final four in Texas high school baseball.
Interesting for Carroll you look at their record and you see they lost 6 games over the 2011 season. Closer to
home they lost to Uvalde with former Laredo Alexander Coach Burtoff as the Coyote head coach now. I am sure
there have been several phone calls by now between Uvalde and Laredo Alexander on that particular game the
Coyotes of Uvalde beat Carroll 8-2.
While they only lost one district game against Johnson 5-4 Carroll defeats have been big. They lost to Lang Ham
Creek in the Woodland tournament 8-7 to Flour Mount and the Woodlands all three in the opening tournament
they went to in 2011. They lost 8-7, 11-2, 13-3 . Carroll goes on to get beat 9-0 against Salitto and Uvalde 8-2 .
All those games were early on in the season and in most were in tournament play where pitching does become
an issue but it would rather be interesting since those defeats were in tournament play and they were in games
where they had to use their third pitcher so where does Alexander stand on this. A one game playoff as quoated
by Coach Mario Garcia after the game against San Antonio Churchill.
They decided with the famous COIN FLIP this morning two opposite sides. Alexander would have a great
advantage if they go to a one game series for UIL's Region IV Championships.
